During the legendary Obama electoral victory, I warned the celebrants (and assuaged the mourners) that the rhetorical gap far exceeds the policy gap. Democrats and Republicans are like Coke and Pepsi: they spend a lot of effort marketing their purported distinctions, while the chemists (like me) say that they are producing almost exactly the same product.

Now Obama's team is talking about a spending freeze, and liberals are saying "I feel like an idiot for supporting this guy"!
